Connect

How to connect a domain to a website

A record, CNAME, or NS change

A new domain does not point anywhere yet. Point it to the server or service that hosts the website.

What to choose

  • You have a server IP – an A record.
  • A service gave you a CNAME – a CNAME as its guide says.
  • A host gave you its own NS – an NS change.
  • Just send visitors to another website – a redirect.
  • A static website in an archive – hosting right from the bot.

A record

My domains → domain → DNS settings → type A.

  • Name – @ or Skip for the domain itself, blog for a subdomain.
  • Value – the server IPv4, for example 203.0.113.10.
  • www – a separate A record www with the same IP, or a CNAME www to the main domain.

A new A record is created behind the Cloudflare proxy. Keep it that way for a website. If a service needs DNS only, open the record and tap Disable proxying.

CNAME

  • Name – only the left part: for shop.example.com it is shop.
  • Value – the address from the service guide, unchanged.
  • DNS only – if the platform requires it, disable proxying in the record.

NS change

Only when a service gave you its own NS and will manage DNS itself.

  • Change NS – on the domain card. Send NS separated by spaces: 2 to 6 for Imperium, 2 to 13 for Solid.
  • After the change – records are managed at the new DNS provider, Cloudflare settings in the bot stop applying.
  • Back to Cloudflare – open DNS or Cloudflare settings in the bot and tap Link: the bot switches the NS back.

Right after purchase

The bot offers to connect the domain right after payment: send an IP or NS and everything is set up automatically. With two or more domains, Bulk editor → NS or IP does the same.

Changes usually show up within minutes, sometimes up to 24 hours. Longer – see Domain does not work.
